Review: Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. "Hulks on Ice"

Ugh. This episode.
First of all, She-Hulk. Seriously. She’s extra-whiny in this episode about the temperature, which doesn’t help her default personality any. In the series as a whole, she’s uniformly mean to the guest stars, and whines about Rick, Rulk, and Skaar. The only person that she doesn’t treat like crap is her cousin, the Hulk. Even then, their relationship is bland, and doesn't actually seem like the sort of bond two close cousins with so many shared life experiences would share.

Either the writing's simply bland, or some executive was scared that a realistic familial relationship between these two might accidentally come across as... well, how plenty of people interpret Marvel's other big familial relationship.

Yeah, exactly.
This episode is just… meh. It has all the hallmarks of a typical HatAoS episode. Jet crash, guest star team-up, parallels between the monster-of-the-week and the team’s issues, etc. It wasn’t actively awful in any way, but it wasn’t that great. The series’ subplots weren’t even referenced in this episode, so at least it has the distinction of being a good episode to skip over, should one decide to get involved in this series. Though, at this, point, I can’t imagine why anyone would want to start watching, but there you go.

And before I forget:

What? This episode seems to think random penguins for no reason are funny. Are you laughing? Neither was I.

See you next time.

  1. Spoiler alert: the penguins are secretly the Leader's masters. Their Instrumentality plan must not be stopped.
